Individual Counseling

One-on-one sessions, once or twice a week, with a board certified therapist.  Common areas of focus:  Improving impulse control, social skills development, anger management, bereavement counseling, and improvement of coping skills.  Therapy is designed to meet the specific needs of the individual.  Treatment plans are designed and evaluated throughout the course of the sessions.

Relationship and Social Skills Groups

Exceptional Wellness puts emphasis on building and improving relationships with peers. Relationship and social skills groups provide a great opportunity to build skills that are valuable in the community. The therapist guides the group to use each other to work through the daily challenges of life.  Promoting the use of peers for resolution of problems and issues rather than depending on staff, parents, etc. We offer a positive and safe atmosphere that leads to growth in many areas of the individual’s life.

Common Goals

Every individual with special needs is different, and every family situation is unique. However, there are some common concerns that link us together: getting appropriate care and accommodations, promoting acceptance in the community and extended family; school and community; adjusting routines; and planning for the future.
